Lord Krishna in silhouette. The Vrindavan tree in autumn colours.
Yamuna-side villages held one rule about Lord Krishna's painting. Wherever he stood, the tree behind him changed colour. Spring made it green, autumn made it gold and orange, the dry season made it brown. The artist holds the simplest version. Just the silhouette, the autumn tree, the birds. Nothing else needed. The modern register clears the room of clutter.

Returns and refunds?

A short letter from the studio
We started this because nobody was writing about Indian art the way we wanted to read it.
RareMango began in a one-room office in Bombay in 2022. Two of us, a printer that was always too hot, and a stubborn idea: that Indian wall art deserves a brand that talks about it the way friends talk about it, specific, warm, occasionally wrong, never bored.
Most of what you’ll find on this site is reproduction prints. Museum-grade, framed by our own team, attributed by region and school. Some of it is original work by named artists. All of it is curated, not collected. If a piece is on our site, it’s because we’d hang it on our own walls.
